How to create a Facebook Business Page in 5 easy steps

Why do you need a Facebook business page?

Well, in today’s world, not having a Facebook page isn’t an option anymore.

A business website isn’t enough anymore. Most of your customers are spending their time on social media and they want to get to know the businesses they buy products & services from. This is also the place where they want to discover new products and services, so why not yours?

A Facebook business page offers a window to this new world of potential customers and it is FREE to create. It gives a voice to your business, a chance to directly interact with people, to bring people to your website, to get your business listed in Google’s organic search results and grab a spot on the first page.

Finally, a Facebook business page will allow you to create advertisements directly targeting people interested in your products and services. 

Follow this simple step by step process to create your own Facebook business page.

Step 1 — Create a Page on Facebook

Login to your personal Facebook account. You will be able to create a new Facebook business page directly from your profile.

To create your page, start by clicking the drop-down arrow at the top right-hand corner of your Facebook page. From the drop-down, click “Create Page.”

Next, you will have to decide which category best fits your business.

  • Business or Brand: Showcase your products and services, spotlight your brand and reach more customers on Facebook.
  • Community or public figure: Connect and share with people in your community, organization, team, group or club.

In both cases, you will have to pick a page name and a subcategory for your business. Start typing a category that describes your page and Facebook will come up with suggestions.

It’s ok, If you aren’t sure, you can always modify whenever you like.

The next window will ask you to upload both a profile picture and a cover photo. You can skip these steps and upload your pictures later.

However, once your page is created you can also have the ability to change your cover photo to a video or a slideshow. Very few pages are using either of these features but the ones who do, sure make a strong impact on people visiting their pages.

  • Video requirement: Minimum 820 x 312 pixels, between 20 and 90 seconds, but for better results, upload a video that’s 820 x 462.
  • Slideshow: 400 x 150 pixels. Add up to 5 photos for your slideshow.

Voila, you created a Facebook page for your business. Now it’s time to complete your profile info, so your customers can easily find you.

Step 2 — Enter Your Business Informations

Now it is time to provide some basic information about your business. Click on the 3 dots icons below the cover photo and choose edit page info.

A window will pop up asking to edit your information. Even though all of these fields are optional, it is to your advantage to complete your profile to the best of your abilities. At least, complete the most important section by writing a short description of your business or as Facebook calls it: Impressum. You can write up to 2000 characters.

Depending on the kind of business you have, this section may look slightly different.

As you can see, this is just basic info about your business. Where you are located, when is your business open, how to contact you and what is your website.

Step 3 — Add a Button to Your Page

The button is located just underneath your cover photo. Its purpose is to invite your page visitors to click it and perform the desired action of your choosing.

As you can see, you have various option to pick from. Pick the best option that fits you and follows the steps. You can change this button at any time you want, so feel free to experiment with these options.

Step 4 — Edit your page username

You want to edit your page username to make it easy for people to find you on Facebook and it also creates a custom URL with your username.

With Username:

www.facebook.com/guezmarketing

Your username needs to be minimum 5 characters long but no longer than 50.

Step 5 — Invite Friends & Family to Like Your Page

The final step. Invite Friend and Family to like your page.

Just below the “Add a button” Facebook invites you to suggest your page to your friends and Family.

Your friends and family are most likely going to like your page to show you support regardless of what your page is all about or what the page looks like.

However, the people who don’t know you will quickly dismiss your page, if it looks incomplete. That’s why it is important to complete all the above steps to Increase your chances of people liking your page.

Congratulation, you finished setting up your Facebook business page. Now what?

Now it is time to communicate with your Facebook followers by posting a few updates. Your Facebook page is now the voice of your business.
