HOW TO USE YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE INSIGHTS
Facebook Page Insights will help you understand how to communicate better with your customers and how to encourage them to take action. It can help you track user interaction to better understand your page performance and who among your audience is most engaged with your Page.
Facebook Page Insights is one of the free tools, facebook offers. it is constantly updated and needs to be regularly checked If you want to determine the latest tastes and interests of your customers.
Let’s take a look at the 10 most important Facebook insights information you need to know.
You can find your Page Insights at the top of your page menu bar.
1. MAIN DASHBOARD: OVERVIEW
The main dashboard gives you a quick overview of your page activity. You can see your page likes, page views, post engagement, reach, among other things.
As you scroll down your page, you will discover the metrics of your 5 most recent posts.
The last section of the main dashboard is called Pages to watch. It offers you the possibility to spy on your competition by simply adding your competitor page in that section. Compare your page performance with your competitor and discover how fast they are growing.
2. FOLLOWERS
The follower’s tab presents you with three different type of information.
Your page growth over time.
Your net followers, which is the number of new followers minus the number of people who stopped following you. It also gives you the details of your organic followers (people who found you on their own) and your paid followers. (people who followed you after clicking on an ad/boosted post)
Lastly, learn where your page follows happened.
Did people click your page like button directly on your ad? On your page? From their desktop? Or did they search for you?
3. LIKES
The Likes tab is very similar to the Followers tab. it presents the information the exact same way.
Your net likes, which is the number of new likes minus the number of unlike. It also gives you the details of your organic likes versus your paid likes.
Now you can search by new likes and even by unlikes.
For example, we can see in the above graph, this page received some unlikes. If this happened to you, you should go back to your page to see what was posted on that day. That day’s post will give you a great indication as to why someone unliked your page.
That’s one of the reasons, why checking your Facebook insights is crucial.
Lastly, learn where your page likes happened.
This graph gives you a little more details than the follower’s graph as it presents all the different possibilities on how your page was liked.

4. REACH
Post reach & Total Reach:
The number of people who had any posts from your Page enter their screen. The post reach graph appears at the top of the page and the total reach at the bottom of the page. These two graphs convey the exact same information.
Recommendations:
This chart shows the number of times that people have recommended your Page in posts and comments.
Reactions, comments, shares and more:
These actions will help you reach more people.
Discover the number of reactions you’ve had on your post, total number share over time and comments.
This is by far THE greatest tool in your toolbox.
Discover what your audience likes the most, by analyzing which post drives the most reactions, shares or comments. It will help you focus on creating content that your audience cares about.
Reactions:
Likes and other ways in which people react to your Page posts.
Understand how people react to your post. Do they simply like? Or do they love it? Did it make them laugh? Etc…
This graph is also a very important tool.
A post like is the equivalent of a positive note. Whereas love, wow, haha, sad or angry are much stronger reactions to your post and the Facebook algorithm takes this into consideration when ranking your post/page.
The post like is by far the most used on every page. The second most rated reaction is the love emoji. If you want to gain some ranking in the Facebook algorithm, you want to create posts that your followers love.
Hide, Report as Spam and Unlikes:
These actions will decrease the number of people you reach.
Ideally you want this graph to be blank, but obviously, not everyone will like what you are doing. Users can report your content as spam, which affects your overall page ranking. You want to stay on top of those ratings and make sure to understand why your posts are being reported as spam. Otherwise, your page ranking will go down and you won’t even know why.
5. PAGE VIEWS
Total View:
It simply is the number of times, your page profile has been viewed.
Total View by section:
In short, It is the number of people who have viewed each of your page profile tabs. For a long time, these stats were not available. Looking at these stats will give you a good idea on what your page visitors are most interested in.
Your homepage will receive the highest number, as it is the first page everyone lands on. However, are your visitors checking your post first, your reviews, your photos or your community?
Once again, knowing which of these tabs your page visitors are most interested in, will give you a really good insight on what to focus on and improve next.
If your visitors are most interested in your post, then it would be a great idea to make the best use of your pinned post and highlight important information for them.
If your visitors look at your reviews, then move your tabs around, so your reviews can show up at the very top of your page, especially if you have good ratings. You may also want to consider making your reviews more visible on your website.
Total people who viewed:
This represents the number of people who logged in to Facebook and have viewed your page profile.
Total people who viewed by age and gender:
Now, this is where it gets interesting.
Discover the real demographics of the people who like your page. As you can clearly see on this graph, this page is mostly followed by women between the age of 25 and 34. Understanding who is your audience will give you plenty of insight on how to write your message, what kind of image you should be using in your post, etc… Knowing your audience and who you are talking to is half the battle. Creating content to specifically created for your audience will resonate much better with and are more likely to engage with your content.
Total people who viewed by device:
Where did your followers view your page from? Their desktop or their mobile device?
Most if not all pages should see a clear difference between desktop and mobile. More than 50% of all internet traffic happens on mobile, so you shouldn’t be surprised by these stats. If you don’t know by now, your content should be designed and created with mobile viewing in mind. As a matter of fact, at the beginning of the year, Google re-indexed the whole web by mobile-friendly websites. If your site doesn’t include a mobile design version, you will lose a lot of ranking in Google search.
6. POSTS
This tab will inform you about when your fans are online for every day of the week. Your graph should be very similar every day. The curve goes up early in the morning and stays high up all day long until people slowly start to go to bed.
This graph will give you a good indication of the time to post and which day to post. The best time to post can vary as most pages try to post early in the morning to catch that curve going up. There isn’t a magic time to post. You will have to try it out on your own and see which time, your post got the most engagement. The result will definitely vary from page to page. However, you may want to consider your audience traditional day. When are they waking up? When are they taking a break? When do they stop working? When are they on the bus/metro? Etc… Facebook users have a tendency to check their social media feed whenever they have a few minutes to kill. It’s kind of impulsive. I’m sure you can relate.

All post published:
This post recap all your previous post and summarize each post type (Link, image, video), targeting (public of custom audience), reach (both organic and paid), engagement (post click and reactions)
You can also click on the down arrow in two different places and access your reach by fans vs non-fans or break down the post engagement by reactions/comments/shares, negative feedbacks or your overall engagement rate per post.
This tab is full of great visual information that will help you understand which post are working the best, which one isn’t or which post reached the most non-fans. Ultimately you want to grow your page likes, therefore understanding which post increase your reach with the people who aren’t following you is a great indicator of the kind of post you should be doing to reach out to them.
7. VIDEOS
The video tab will present you with the metrics from all your video post on your page. Discover how many minutes have been watched and how many views your videos received.
Top videos:
When you scroll down, you will see a list compiling all your video post ranked by video views. Video content is a big deal for the Facebook algorithm as it favors videos over picture post. Understand which videos got the most views and try to replicate such videos.
8. INSTAGRAM STORIES INSIGHTS
Ok, you are probably wondering what is Instagram doing in this list?
Well, if you have an Instagram business profile and publish stories on Instagram, they also get automatically published on your Facebook page, unless you change your Instagram stories settings.
At the moment of writing this article, most people still don’t know where to access the Instagram stories analytics for the Facebook page. Well, you have the answer now. However, you must first activate it when you click on this tab for the first time before being able to see anything.
9. PEOPLE
Just like the page views, this tab clearly presents you with the demographics of the people who like your Page based on the information they provided on their profiles.
Below the main graph, you can discover from which countries are from, cities or the language they speak. This is another key piece of information. You may discover, Â you have a lot of followers from a country on the other side of the world. In that case, you may want to create and promote content targeted only for them and in their language to optimize your results.
10. CUSTOM TABS
Not all pages are created equal or should I say the same.
You can customize the tabs in the settings of your page to better reflect all the services and products of your business. In other words, depending on your customization, you may have access to some extra tabs insights such as the Shop tab. This tab will give you info on how many times, one of your product has been viewed or clicked.
